It´s quite big now, but my hollidays are over. I´ve got new pupils and  I´m not sure if  I am able to keep my summer speed of piecing :). But I would like to finish the top till Christmas.

Hi, I´m here to show how the hexie snowflake is growing. I´m still not sure about the size, I wish I could make all four blue lines/curves.

Here I am after two weeks. I was as busy as a bee :) look at my snowflake. I am piecing the third row. I´m sorry, I didn´t count the hexies, but I can make 100 a week without problems (I still have hollidays).

Some of you ask me about the pattern, so here is picture from pinterest:
Somebody found it on www.segerman.org, it´s a design for Math-Art T-Shirt, but it´s a mathematical curve, look at wikipedia. This picture was enough for me to colour the hexagon grid and start to piecing.

It´ll be great to make all four rows, but I´m not sure to have enough fabrics.  So goodbye and check my progress after next two weeks.

Second round is finished. It´s totaly  263 hexies, it means 136 new ones from last week. I like the result, it could be repeated as a big block, but my pattern needs one more blue row.

Her I am with my Monday report. I managed to make 90 hexagons (10 behind my limit). The fabrics is a special cotton with the shiny pattern in the waves. We call it Damask here and it ´s often used for bed linen. Not very good for hand piecing, but I have plenty bought by weight at our local shop. The pattern is from pinterest and it´s Koch snowflake curves. Puce science, I think :). See you next week, I´m cutting next ones.

Spring Wall Hanging

Did you remember my Valentine´s project with hearts? It has slowly turned into spring wall hanging quilt.  But I really like the colour combination and it´s great for Easter - Sping decoration. White areas are free motion quilted, so the flowers and the hearts are almost 3D.

The quilt was made to fit under the shelf in the dining area. It´s really yummy.

There is still one heart left, so I decided to make a simple bag with it. I´m going to share the result with you.

Scrappy Hearts

Now I´m in my little pink Valentine´s project. I don´t know if I manage to finish it in time, so I want to show you some parts - scrappy flowers and a heart (yes, it´s the same design recomended by Susan in July). The hexie size is about 2 inch. Maybe you like the heart and you´ve got some hexies ready. So, don´t hesitate to make one pink/red/purple heart and decorate your cushions, bags, wall-hanging quilt and so on. On February 14th I´ll show you my project.

Something different

Today I want to share papier pieced "hexie" pattern from Kristy at Quiet Play. She designed many cute patterns, this one is  June BOM And Sew On... and it is called A Stich in Time.  I wasn´t sure to post it here, but Susan from Desertsky Quilting left so kind message at my blog so I´m doing it. I hope you like something hexie-themed but different.

Hexagon quilt

Hi, I am Věra, 41 and I am from the Czech Republic. English isn´t my mother´s tongue but I´ll try my best. I love patchwork and  EPP and today I want to show you my last finished hexagon quilt. It´s a kind of scrap quilt and I had no pattern for it. The flower fabrics was my daughter´s dress. I started from the center and used home-made plastic templates about 2 inch size.

It´s all hand pieced and hand quilted. Originally it should be the round table - topper, but finally I decided to make haxagon shape and not to use the binding - there´s an extra back row. This quilt didn´t meet my sewing machine, I swear. It tooks me about six months, but I´m proud of it.
I hope you like it and may be it´s a little inspiraton.
